For my meeting with Scorpion, I wore a filmy black top with pants and a splendid antique amber necklace. I wanted to look dramatic for my date. Sylvia – get this straight: it’s coffee- not a date! O.K.?
I got to the cafe at 4:10 hoping that Scorpion would already be there. He was – and looking even more gorgeous than I remembered. His hair was up in that cute bun. He wore a sleeveless shirt so his tattoos were plainly visible. Didn’t turn me off. His eyes were almond shaped and luminous, his nose aquiline, lips full. Sylvia – you’re in BIG trouble!
He wore a sleeveless shirt so his tattoos were plainly visible. Didn’t turn me off. His eyes were almond shaped and luminous, his nose aquiline, lips full.
He stood when he saw me and pulled out a chair. Then he took my hands and kissed me on both cheeks. Was this from the article I read this morning? “9 Ways to Tell If A Man Is Interested in You” – 4) He gives you a flirtatious touch? No, it was just “hello.”
He said, putting his hands on his hips, “You look absolutely stunning!”
I blushed. Yes, yes, yes – definitely 3) from the article – He puts his hands on his hips while talking to you.
He sat down and leaned close. “So, how have you been?”
How have I been??? Thinking about you!!! I was starting to perspire and pulled out my red lacquer fan.
“Good,” I said. “Haven’t painted much –a few sketches at the beach. Max and I took a short holiday. But I’m eager to get back into painting again.”
6) He has a warm and sincere smile. Definitely. 7) His head is tilted because he enjoys listening to you. Cut it out, Sylvia – I’m warning you!
I was fanning myself furiously by now.
“You seem hot,” he said.
Scorpion, you have no idea!
“How about a nice cool bottle of champagne instead of coffee?”
Oh, my stars!
“What a lovely idea,” I said. “To celebrate our success at the gallery.”
“And other things,” he said, eyebrows arched. 5) He raises his eyebrows.
“Oh?” I asked, my palms sweaty. “What other things?”
“First the champagne,” he said, beckoning the waiter and ordering a very respectable bottle.
When the glasses were full, we touched them in a toast.
“To the enjoyment of making art,” he said.
“That’s a marvelous toast,” I said. “So, have you been working on any new projects lately?” I spread my hands on the table.
He spread his hands on the table, too. Oh my beating heart! 8) He mirrors your body movements. Cut it out, Sylvia – I mean it!
“There’s something I’m excited about telling you,” he said, looking intensely at his champagne glass. 9) If he avoids eye contact, it means he adores you.
I’m going to faint and fall off my chair.
He lightly put his hand over mine. “I’ve been asked to have a show in London! Isn’t that just super?”
The smile on my face froze. ….. For a few seconds I couldn’t breathe. This is about London and his career, not me. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh……. nuts! To say I was disappointed wouldn’t begin to describe it. But ……… Dear Journal …….. can you believe if I said I was relieved at the same time? I loved Max with all my heart and would never do anything to hurt him. And truly …. I wasn’t about to have a fling with someone who could be my grandson. Still … sigh… the fantasy was delicious.
I said, putting my other hand over his, “Yes, it’s absolutely super!” I meant it. “You deserve it. You’re a talented artist and will go far. I just know it.”
“Thanks for your support,” he said, refilling our glasses. “I’m so happy I met you. We’ll be friends for a long, long time. O.K.? We’ll meet again when I get back?”
I smiled again. 1) He wants to be close to you.
Sylvia, you hussy!!!
