Hard to believe I’ve written my journal for a year now. Time flies. I bought a new journal and will continue for another year. As long as I keep meeting quirky characters and having Ah-Ha! moments – I’ll have plenty of material.
What I’ve learned:
*I’m disciplined. Each week I’ve come out with a brand new entry. Thank goodness for Aunt Daisy, Scorpion, Mr. Francis, Cutlass, Bobo, Jojo Three Fingers and all the rest who drift into my life just at the moment I need them.
*What would I do without Max? His zingers keep me laughing and spice up the entries. Thank you, Max!
Announcing the winner of the “Myrna Sings the Blues” giveaway! And the winner is ……
*Without the readers, subscribers and comments, I would be discouraged. As one blogger put it, “My first year of blogging was like whispering in a hurricane.” I know there are readers out there who appreciate what I do and I can’t thank them enough for telling me!!!
*Thinking up appropriate artwork to go with the entries is like licking the icing on the cake. That’s the fun part after the sweaty part of writing.
*I’m not great at social media. I’d rather be with my journal. But I need to spread the word and the number of readers and subscribers is growing.
Special “Thanks!” to Ann Carlson who designed Sylvia’s Journal site and guided me through the first (really scary) weeks of posting. She is a constant shoulder on which I lean.
I’m excited to announce the winner of the “Subscribe and Comment” giveaway of my artist friend’s Juan Carlos’ collage, a souvenir of www.sylviasaltwater.com
Drum roll …………………… the WINNER OF THE “MYRNA SINGS THE BLUES” GIVEAWAY is …………… subscriber and commenter Irene Maas!! Congratulations, Irene!!!
Below is an anniversary comment from subscriber and reader Mae West:
“This must be a day when Sylvia and Max lounge around the pool drinking champagne and nibbling on delicious creations from Max’s bag of tricks! Congratulations on a very successful year of building your blog reputation and the production of weekly editions of delightful reading. You have certainly given your readers an appetite for much bigger servings of the Saltwaters’ lives and a Wednesday morning treat that never disappoints.”
Thank you, Mae!
It was a happy celebration but back to work! The holidays are approaching and Max and I need to energize for Otto and Myrna’s visit. It will be more mental preparation than holiday decorating. Max is already twiddling his moustache.
Tonight I’ll bring out our artificial Charlie Brown tree and decorate it with ornaments we’ve collected over the years. Now we can actually enjoy looking at them instead of catering parties. Thank goodness for retirement!
Thank you again readers for supporting me in the hurricane as I whisper. Keep reading. Keep subscribing. Keep commenting. And spread the word about Sylvia!
Time to turn the page for next Wednesday …………….
